What is a High Definition TV - HD Tick?
The "HD Tick" Logo is an initiative
of the Australian Digital
Suppliers Industry Forum of Ai Group. The "HD Tick"
Logo is a trade mark of Ai
Group .
The "HD Tick" Logo may only be applied by licensed suppliers
that certify the compliance of their digital TVs with specific
criteria.
High Definition TV Screen
The screen must have 720 active vertical scanning lines (720p)
or better.
This ensures screen resolution that is compatible with High Definition
broadcasts on free to air digital terrestrial television.
Digital TV Receiver
The receiver must be a compliant HD digital terrestrial television receiver that is:
-
built-into or integrated with the HD display;
-
registered as a compliant product with the
international digital TV standards body - DVB;
-
conforms with the Australian
Digital Terrestrial Receiver Standard (current version AS
4933-1 2005); and
-
includes receiver software that can be updated by the supplier of the television.
This ensures more reliable digital television
viewing when an adequate
digital television broadcast signal is available.
High Definition Connectors
The digital AV output must be a certified High-Definition
Multimedia Interface (HDMI), with HDCP enabled, and have been
tested and certified to the specifications
required by HDMI Licensing, LLC.
This provides better connectivity between the High Definition
TV screen and other High Definition digital devices such as an
Xbox 360, PS3, Blu-ray, HD free-to-air digital video recorder
and Foxtel's
new iQ2 Personal Digital Recorder.
Audio
The audio decoder must be able to decode Dolby AC3 transmissions
and the audio output must include a multi-channel audio out, with
either a consumer electrical or optical digital audio interface,
and have a certificate of approval from Dolby
Laboratories.
This helps to ensure a better home theatre experience while viewing
digital television.
Foxtel HD+
FOXTEL'S new High Definition (HD) service, which will be known as FOXTEL HD+, will be available from mid - 2008.
